MDI Search and Rescue MDI Search and Rescue Established in 1982 we are an all volunteer nonprofit service organization that provides search and rescue assistance on Mount Desert Island and surrounding communities. MDI SAR responds to callouts initiated by Acadia National Park and the Maine Warden Service. Capabilities of our team include ground searches for missing persons evacuation of injured persons and technical rope rescue. Support MDI SAR MDI SAR is an all volunteer organization.
