Through community outreach initiatives, the Gallery provides opportunities for member and nonmember visual artists to exhibit their work and engage with the public and others who can assist them in their artistic and professional careers. As an artist-run nonprofit, the Gallery believes that artists are best qualified to direct every phase of their creative work. Focussing on emerging and mid-career artists of all backgrounds who do not have commercial gallery representation, the Gallery has been launching and nurturing artists' careers - over 3,000 - since it opened its doors in 1969.
