Home - New England Society in the City of Brooklyn HONORED SCHOLARS at one of the Societys annual receptions for scholars and their families The New England Society in the City of Brooklyn was first formed in 1847. Its purposes were to honor New Englands Pilgrim forebears and to gather in fellowship the many Brooklyners who had emigrated from New England with the advent of Americas Industrial Revolution. Additional purposes were to foster and support the culture and social welfare of Brooklyn. Today the Society has an active philanthropic program.
