New York Cares recently kicked off an impactful activity aimed at gaining clarity on housing insecurity. The session started with a reflection on our existing knowledge, followed by an insightful presentation from our incredible partners at Women In Need (WIN), who shared important statistics and qualitative data on housing insecurity in New York City. After that, our group packed 300 kits for those in need! We wrapped up the event with a thoughtful reflection on how we can move beyond awareness into further curiosity and action. When asked for one word that captured how they felt after the project, reflections included: happy, knowledgeable, challenged, empowered, inspired, energized, hopeful, and many more. We also conducted a formal evaluation, and here are some powerful results: 🔹 82% feel more connected to the community served. 🔹 91% believe the work they did will have a positive impact on those receiving the kits. 🔹 91% feel a positive impact from the work they did. 🔹 91% report that New York Cares offers opportunities aligned with their values.
