The long-running Brandeis Invitational will now carry a new name — the Carla-Mae Richards Invitational — honoring the Brandeis ’59 alum who became USA Fencing’s first full-time executive director (1983–94) and the driving force behind today’s North American Cup format. Her visionary leadership expanded opportunities for collegiate and national fencers alike, making this tribute at her alma mater especially fitting. We can’t wait to see teams return to Waltham to celebrate Carla-Mae’s enduring legacy on and off the strip. (fb)
