Our objectives are to increase the high school graduation rate among Hispanic youth and to promote harmony in our community. The high school drop out rate among Hispanics is the highest for any group in North Carolina. Additionally, no other consistent Spanish-language media exists locally that addresses the information needs of Hispanic families in our area. Radio Pa'lante helps government and nonprofit agencies communicate with the Spanish-speaking public. For example, Radio Pa'lante recently hosted an interview with the school system's ESL coordinator about parents' options for changing schools due to low test scores at one elementary school with a 25% Hispanic population, and we are planning another interview regarding the Early Head Start program.
