He was the Redress Strategy Chair of the Japanese American Citizens League and was honored with the Order of the Rising Sun Gold and Silver Rays by the Government of Japan for reversing President Ronald Reagans opposition to House Resolution 442 and securing the passage of the Civil Liberties Act of 1988.
