National Wild Horse Burro Animal Sanctuary Welcome Thank you for visiting the web site for the National Wild Horse Burro and Animal Sanctuary. We are located in the mild four seasons of northwest Nevada County California. Large Ponderosa Pines Black Oak Cedar and Manzanita abound on the Shady Creek Ranch. The ranch is located at a 2000 elevation so we just get enough snow now and then of a short duration to make us in awe of its beauty.
