Our Feeding Champlain Valley team recently spoke with clients at NorthWest Family Foods in St. Albans, VT. One recent visitor, Pat, shared her experience with food insecurity and the essential items she seeks when shopping. “Everything’s been super expensive since 2020, I didn’t need to go to food shelves up until then. I usually look for meat and canned food while I’m here but sometimes there aren’t things I can always eat. I have to go to several food shelves in order to get what I need towards the end of the month, that’s when it’s the hardest.” Protein-rich foods like meat, eggs, and dairy are essential, but they’re some of the hardest items for food shelves to keep stocked. You can make a difference by donating fresh or frozen meats, canned proteins, and other nutritious staples to NorthWest Family Foods!
