Our Kindergarteners recently completed powerful identity self-portraits as part of their ongoing study of self and community. Earlier this year, students explored skin, hair, and melanin while learning about the five senses and creating self-portraits of their faces. In the new year, they expanded their portraits by adding bodies and “I am” statements—such as “I am artistic,” “I am sporty,” “I am kind,” and “I am friendly”—highlighting the many ways we define ourselves beyond physical traits.
