Meet Louisa Proske, the director bringing Puccini's TOSCA to life at Glimmerglass this summer. You might remember her bold, innovative take on RINALDO in 2023 — baroque opera with knights in a hospital! A visionary director whose work is described by The New York Times as "intimate, intense and contemporary," Louisa Proske brings vivid passion and raw authenticity to her work. Her previous credits include AGRIPPINA (Lincoln Center debut), LA BOHÈME (Pittsburgh Festival Opera), and COSÌ FAN TUTTE (LoftOpera). She is also the Co-Founder and former Co-Artistic Director (along with SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE Director Ethan Heard) of the critically acclaimed NYC-based Heartbeat Opera. In addition to her brilliant work on the stage, Proske has served in leadership roles at major opera companies all over the globe. She is the recipient of a 2018 Princess Grace Award, and was nominated as Director of the Year in the 2024 Critics' Poll of Opernwelt. (fb)
