Today, our office is closed in honor of Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Texas finally learned of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth represents both the long-overdue recognition of liberation and a reminder of how justice delayed is justice denied.
