Last week the All State Music festival brought together over 425 musicians from over 40 high schools in Vermont! This celebration of music featured a jazz ensemble, modern bands, orchestras, concert bands, choral groups, an acapella group, and more. 🎶 Vermont storyteller Eva Sollberger (who also happens to be a GIV alum, woohoo!) made a new episode of Stuck in Vermont to capture the musical festivities this year, and it happens to feature several GIV alumni (and rockstars!). 🤩 Shout out to PUNCH, the Modern Band crew featured in this video, especially GIV arts alumni Rowan Dodge, Zoe Blackman, Satori Rossi, and Jack Levine! (And did we miss anyone? So many rockstars!) Congratulation to all of the other awesome GIV crew and Vermont musicians who participated in All State this year. In May of 2025, the Governor’s Institutes of Vermont suddenly lost $30,000 of expected funding due to federal cuts in the National Endowment of the Arts. The funding may be gone, but the 190 accepted high school students that have been accepted to attend this summer from every corner of Vermont are very much still here! In this time of need, we reflect on 42 years of the Arts Institute and look to its future with these messages of hope and support for the importance and power of arts education.
