Green-Wood Historic Fund’s mission is to share the resources of the Green-Wood Cemetery, one of the world's great cemeteries, with the public. The Historic Fund is committed to publicizing and interpreting the cemetery's 478 acres and to educating the public to appreciate its resources and the history of the more than 560,000 individuals interred here. Dedicated to maintaining and restoring monuments and buildings at the Cemetery, an outdoor museum and revered Brooklyn institution since 1838, it also devotes its energies to the preservation of the natural habitat of one of New York City's first parks, opening the cemetery's green oasis to a varied urban population. Finally, the Historic Fund makes the cemetery's records available to the public for historical and genealogical purposes.
