Overview

The Pet Awareness and Welfare Society (PAWS) for San Jose Animal Care and Services is a nonprofit organization focused on reducing the number of homeless animals in San Jose, California. It supports the San José Animal Care & Services by promoting pet awareness and helping to place adoptable animals into new homes.

Mission

The mission of PAWS is centered around decreasing the euthanasia rate of adoptable animals and increasing awareness about the value of companion pets in the home and community.

Activities

PAWS works closely with San Jose Animal Care & Services (SJACS) and local rescues. They implement various programs aimed at enriching the lives of animals in shelters and encouraging rescue groups to take in animals from these facilities. Key activities include:

• Spay and Neuter Programs: Providing discount vouchers to encourage pet owners to spay or neuter their pets.
• Vaccine Clinics: Organizing vaccine clinics for pets.
• Support for SJACC: Assisting animals at the San Jose Animal Care Center by creating a supportive environment and helping those in need.

Structure

PAWS is an all-volunteer organization with a 501(c)(3) status. It relies on donations, volunteers, and community engagement to achieve its goals.

Impact
