CDC ANOINTS SHINGRIX VACCINENEW STANDARD FOR SHINGLES PREVENTION The Centers for Disease Control CDC accepted in full and promulgated on its website three recommendations from the CDCs Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices ACIP. Shingrix nonlive vaccine developed by GSK is recommended for the prevention of shingles Herpes Zoster HZ for immunocompetent adults aged 50 years and older. Shingrix nonlive vaccine is recommended for the prevention of shingles for immunocompetent adults who previously received Zostavax live vaccine developed by Merck. Shingrix nonlive vaccine is preferred over Zostavax live vaccine for the prevention of shingles.
