We are thrilled to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Africa CDC and Texas Children’s Global on the margins of the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva. Together, we aim to strengthen health systems in Africa to rapidly improve the quality of life and survival for children with non-communicable diseases and neglected tropical diseases. The collaboration will start with two priority areas: (1) scaling access to sickle cell disease care by integrating essential high impact interventions into primary health care services across Africa, in an initiative named A New Day for Children with Sickle Cell Disease; (2) building Africa’s capacity for technological innovation and production of vaccines for neglected tropical diseases, such as hookworm and schistosomiasis. “This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to ensure that every African child has access to life-saving health interventions.
