In partnership with the Northeast Motus Collaboration, NCF has added a Motus station at Ram Pasture. These receiver stations track birds, bats, and other migratory species such as butterflies and dragonflies on their global journeys. The Motus network includes hundreds of stations across the world which detect tiny radio tags attached to migratory animals. If the tagged animal passes within 10 miles of the receiver it is detected and the data sent to researchers. Over the past year, NCF and The Trustees have been working with GZA GeoEnvironmental to study coastal risk and resilience on Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge. NCF and The Trustees hope to use nature-based designs to increase habitat resilience, reduce flooding, and maintain the viability of this unique barrier beach system.   GZA is ready to present their alternatives analysis and preferred options for preserving this community treasure. NCF and The Trustees will hold a virtual public meeting on May 27th at 6pm to present findings and discuss resilient designs for three critical locations: Coskata Pond, Coskata Woods trail, and the Haulover.
