A group of faculty and staff spent ten days of their spring break backpacking through the remote canyons of Bears Ears National Monument in Utah. This professional development program focused on leadership in the backcountry, teaching how to lead students in future programs. Artist and conservationist Jane Lee McCracken, founder of Drawing for the Planet, visited the Hill Campus to lead a wildlife conservation drawing workshop in a 7th-grade studio art class, inspiring students to use art as a tool for change. Last year, Kaitlyn Helf '25, a Drawing for the Planet ambassador, led a similar workshop in 8th grade—resulting in students’ artwork of endangered NY wildlife being projected in Times Square! She also brought the program to the Lower School, where a mural now showcases their collective creativity.
