Storm King reopens on Wednesday, May 7! 🌸 We're thrilled that our 2025 season will open with a suite of special exhibitions by Kevin Beasley, Sonia Gomes, and Dionne Lee. 🌱 "Kevin Beasley: PROSCENIUM | Rebirth / Growth: The Watch / Harvest / Dormancy: On Reflection" is a new site-specific installation that will encompass the viewer in a panoramic experience set within nature. Comprised of a series of large-scale resin slabs—four triptychs measuring a hundred-feet-long—the exhibition marks his largest sculptural installation to date. By embedding clothing, fabric, plants, and other materials into the work, Beasley synthesizes complex and layered histories of the landscape into a three-dimensional composition. Co-curated by @nora__lawrence and @ericguybooker 🇧🇷 "Sonia Gomes: Ô Abre Alas!" is the first solo institutional exhibition of celebrated Brazilian artist Sonia Gomes. For the exhibition, Gomes will present her first site-specific outdoor installation, in which sculptures rich with color and rhythm are suspended from the branches of a tree on Storm King’s Museum Hill. Inside the galleries, a survey of sculptural works spanning the artist’s career will reflect the depth and evolution of her creative practice. Co-curated by @nora__lawrence and @larryosseimensah 🟦 For the eleventh edition of Storm King's Outlooks program, Dionne Lee will present her first-ever outdoor work, a site-specific installation entitled "between the falling leaf and the surface of rock." Using stones sourced from Storm King’s landscape, the artist will coat each with a cyanotype chemistry, which, when exposed to the sun, will turn shades of deep blue.
