April 4 — The Writing Showcase offered a unique opportunity to engage with student creativity and academic achievements. The event began with an All School Family Breakfast, followed by Lower School classroom visits and writing games, and an Upper School Showcase Journey and author interviews. Parents also gathered in the Playhouse for an information session with English Department Chair Sarah McCay and Co-Directors of Academic Support Catie Bertoncin and Kristin Sammeta, who provided insights into the writing program’s impact. 🦈 PK Students Dive into Learning About Sharks March 6 — PK students wrapped up their shark unit with a special celebration that included a conversation with a shark biologist and a visit from seventh graders. Students spoke with Rebecca Rogers, a shark biologist with the South Fork Natural History Museum’s (@sofomuseum) SOFO Shark Research and Education program. Ms. Rogers shared how she educates the community about shark biology and ways humans and sharks can coexist in the ocean. “Rebecca’s expertise brought the topic to life in such a meaningful way, and the children were thrilled to ask questions and learn even more,” Mrs. Putorti said. “It was a wonderful opportunity to explore the subject from an expert’s perspective.” Inspired to make a difference, the class also adopted a whale shark, naming it PK Owl after a class vote. #RippowamCisqua (fb)
