Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture Mission Our Purpose Rooted in Arab arts and language AlBustan Seeds of Culture offers artistic and educational programming that enriches understanding and celebrates diversity while supporting the pursuit and affirmation of Arab American cultural identity and playing a constructive civic role within broader American society. Education Education Education We offer semester and yearlong inschool and afterschool Arab Arts Programming for students in Philadelphia. Students can attend classes in visual arts and drumming over the course of the year gaining sustained exposure to and cumulative education on Arab art and culture. Art Culture Programming From concerts to art exhibitions to movie screenings AlBustan Seeds of Cultures arts programming bridges the past and the future and generatively connects Arab culture to those of other peoples.

At Majdal Bakery in South Philly, the smell of warm dough escapes the oven as 29-year-old Kenan Rabah hums along to a song by Fairuz. As he kneads and folds flatbreads the way he learned as a boy, he tries to answer a question that has always had a complicated answer: Where are you from. “This is an easy question for most people, but not for us in the Golan Heights,” said Rabah.
