We had an energizing day at the Capitol lobbying for 2 very important pieces of legislation. One is for Medicaid to pay for cranial helmets for babies. And the other for Medicaid to cover prosthetic devices for adults 21 & older. It’s absurd & inhumane that Texas is the ONLY state in the entire country that has refused to cover these items. I cannot thank our SAAF Family enough for sacrificing their time & efforts yesterday! The energy was so exciting knowing we were taking action and using our voices in hopes of creating change. Together we collectively shared our stories and created heartfelt awareness for such crucial legislation impacting thousands of Texans. Now we wait for the legislative process to unfold and pray our efforts are rewarded. The cranial bill has a hearing next week! (fb)

We are our way to The State Capitol in Austin to lobby for Medicaid Expansion. As of today, Texas is the ONLY state that does not give adults 21 & over with Medicaid access to prosthetic devices. Comprehensive prosthetic coverage is not merely a healthcare issue; it is a matter of human dignity and economic prudence. When individuals have access to appropriate prosthetic devices, they are more likely to return to work, reducing reliance on public assistance programs. Having access to prosthetics also is proven to decrease the risk of secondary health complications, leading to lower overall healthcare expenditures. We stand for dignity, mobility, and equity for all Texans. We are hopeful to make a difference today! (fb)
