It’s $5 Friday, and today we’re asking you to see the beauty in someone different. Meet one-year-old Beagle Tippy. She has the sweetest little face and only three legs. She was likely born this way with a genetic defect that left one leg underdeveloped. But, you should see her go. She limps along, sure, but she doesn’t let it hold her back. She loves big, and has such joy and purpose. She doesn’t know she’s different. We worry others will only see what’s missing, and that people will pass her by. That breaks our hearts. It’s okay for dogs to have differences — To look or move in a way that sets them apart. It just makes them more lovable, more special, and more deserving of a family that sees them for who they are, not what they lack. This Friday, our shelter is getting painfully full. Animals are coming in faster than we can place them.
