Citizens Awareness Network, Inc.
CAN is a grassroots, volunteer group with chapters throughout the Northeast. Our focus is on nuclear and other forms of environmental pollution and the health consequences of toxic exposure. Citizens' confidence in their ability to understand atomic power has been undermined by the nuclear industry and the scientific community. CAN seeks to demystify these issues, with the goal of enabling citizens to eliminate pollution and reclaim democratic control over their environment. CAN addresses the ethical and practical issues of nuclear power from the point of view of a contaminated community. We speak from experience as citizens who live in the effluent pathways of reactors and nuclear waste sites.

Some key Republicans in the Vermont Senate are threatening to dismantle key pieces of legislation that protect Vermonters from climate disaster and help build a more affordable future theGlobal Warming Solutions Actand theRenewable Energy Standard. Among the changes they are pursuing for the Renewable Energy Standard is to define Nuclear Power as clean. We cant let this happen.
