Camp Canaan

Overview

Camp Canaan is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It was established in 2004 with the mission of providing specialized outdoor experiences that encourage growth in faith and foster deeper relationships with Christ and others. The camp operates on a 100-acre island in the Catawba River.

Mission and Vision

The mission of Camp Canaan is to offer summer camps, retreats, and adventure programs that inspire personal growth and spiritual development. The organization's vision is to become the most highly valued recreational and retreat camp in the region, offering Christ-centered experiences for youth and adults alike.

Programs and Activities

Camp Canaan offers a variety of programs for young people aged 5 to 16, including summer day and overnight camps, teen camps, and a counselor-in-training program for older teens. The camp features numerous adventure activities such as a zipline canopy tour, high adventure course, and disc golf. Additionally, it provides scholarships for children in need, ensuring accessibility for families with financial constraints.

Community and Partnerships

Camp Canaan collaborates with local, regional, and national partners to support its operations. The organization is a member of the Christian Camp & Conference Association and participates in community services such as river cleanup initiatives. The camp has continuously expanded its facilities, adding a new Welcome Center, cabins, a climbing tower, and a championship disc golf course. Recent developments include the construction of a dedicated dining hall, enhancing the capacity to serve campers and guests.
