Home Livingston Iowa Established 1854 Nestled in the lush rolling hills of southwest Appanoose County stands the remaining edifice of theFranklin Baptist Church. This simple white framed church building along with the gravestones of those who lived in that community are all that is noticeably left of the village of Livingston Iowa. A familial patriarch from Ohio by the name of Benjamin Barney came with his family to what is now southwest Appanoose county in 1853 where he claimed 320 acres as compensation for his military service during the War of 1812. Barney and the other pioneers who began to settle in the area found enough water and timber to sustain a village.
