Volunteers providing free emergency medical care in Central Park since 1975. The Central Park Medical Unit provides free life saving emergency medical care to New York's Central Park and surrounding areas. Since 1975, CPMU has been the Central Park community's very own ambulance service. CPMU exists to provide life-saving medical assistance to those in need. Our services are equivalent to more than one million dollars a year in free care to the Central Park community yet not one of our patients will ever receive a bill from us. Our 150 members represent the best of volunteerism, with a dynamic group of bright, diverse, and dedicated care providers who all share a genuine care for and love of Central Park. Its not surprising to find that the fastest response time of any ambulance corps in the State of New York, at just under 3 minutes, is found within New York City's crown jewel--one of the few measurable testaments to our enormous dedication.
