Hawthorne Youth and Community Center (HYCC) empowers Roxbury’s youth and community through education, culture, and recreation since 1967. Join us in promoting equity, social justice, and community wellness. HYCCs mission is to provide educational, cultural, and recreational programs for community youth and adults, to recognize and celebrate the rich diversity of the community, and to provide a forum for neighbors to work together to improve the quality of neighborhood life.

HOME ABOUT EVENTS PROGRAMS GET INVOLVED More About HYCC Hawthorne Youth and Community Center is a grassroots nonprofit that has been responsive to community needs for over forty years. The center the brainchild of a small group of concerned community youth and adults began in a converted coal cellar in 1967. Three years later operations moved to a larger Roxbury facility at 9 Fulda Street a building on an Archdiocese owned complex. In 1973 they formally incorporated as Hawthorne Youth Community Center HYCC.
