It’s #FinishLineFriday, and in honor of the most historic finish line out there (in our opinion), we want to highlight two more members of Team Walker. Meet Shannon and Sara, who both have a strong connection to the work we do here at Walker: Shannon as a student working toward a psychology major, and Shannon as one of our incredible clinical interns at Walker Beacon High School! ----- Shannon: “As a psychology major, I have studied the positive effects that therapies and educational support can have on a child's emotional, intellectual, and psychological well-being. Services from Walker have immense impacts beyond the classroom, and I am proud to support this organization. Running the Boston Marathon has always been a huge goal of mine, and I am so excited to be able to do it while supporting such an impactful organization.” Sara: "As a social work student, I am currently placed as a clinical intern at Walker’s Beacon High School. I have gotten to see the positive impact of this organization on the youth they serve, who are exceptional young people dealing with significant mental health difficulties. The dedicated staff members who I am lucky to call colleagues and classmates show incredible compassion and commitment to those they treat. At Beacon, it is evident that students have found a place where they can safely be themselves and pursue their academic passions, such as art, creative writing, and music. Yesterday, we welcomed members of Team Walker to campus for our Boston Marathon Kick-Off Event! Throughout the month of April, students at the Walker School work together to cumulatively run a marathon by completing laps around campus. Students ran their inaugural lap with Team Walker yesterday, and celebrated afterward with snow cones in the beautiful spring weather.
