Rooted in the pioneering work of Harold D. Lasswell and Myres McDougal at Yale University in the 1950s policy science is an interdisciplinary approach to the study and practice of public policy that focuses on understanding and addressing complex societal issues through systematic evidencebased analysis and decisionmaking. The Vision Lasswell and McDougals vision of policy science emphasized the integration of political theory empirical research and normative values to shape policies that promote the common good.
