Ikatun

iKatun is an artist-run organization whose mission is to present contemporary art that fosters public engagement in the politics of information. By "politics of information", we mean the way in which our everyday urban lives and our public spaces are affected by digital information. This might include supporting art projects which look at corporate advertising messages in public space, curating a show about consumer privacy and surveillance, or hosting a symposium on how fear and anxiety have permeated our post-9/11 daily lives. We believe that fostering public discourse and awareness around the social and political implications of new technologies is the surest way to ensure truly public, diverse spaces. iKatun supports art projects and events, organizes exhibitions and conferences, publishes critical writing, runs workshops, gives lectures and fosters community locally and internationally.
