The Purple Elephant Computer Factory addresses two needs within the community.  First, there are many individuals and companies in our area who need to responsibly dispose of PCs they no longer use.   At the same time, there are many families and individuals who need access to a home computer, but cannot afford $500+ for a system.  We accept donated PCs, refurbish them, and install a new Windows OS and other software.  We provide these Internet-ready PCs to KIDS OF ALL AGES, and those who support them, either at no cost to the family or at a low cost.  These PCs will: Enable kids to cross the digital divide; Reduce the high school dropout rate; Increase end-of-grade test scores;  and Connect military families with their deployed active duty parents.  We work with nonprofits, organizations, schools, businesses and the general public throughout North Carolina, primarily in the Raleigh-Durham area.
