Fount of Mercy builds indigenous African organizations’ capacity to provide educational, vocational and health care opportunities for the orphans, vulnerable children and caregivers in their communities.In sub-Saharan Africa, there are over close to 50 million children that have lost one or both of their parents. Frequently, the task of caring for these orphans falls to the community’s women, usually widowed women. The addition of orphans to the family stretches these women beyond their capacity to provide. When this occurs, they often turns to their community for support, specifically their local Community Based Organization (CBO) or Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). Usually founded by community members and started specifically to respond to the needs of their community, these organizations are best positioned to address to the short and long term needs of the child as well as the individuals, like widowed women, who care for them.  
Without our involvement, these local indigenous organizations will continue exhausting their means to provide for their community. With our involvement, they will be able to provide sustainable quality care and foster real change over the long-term.
