Adventurous HMS students took the plunge with Deer Hill Expeditions, paddling through Labyrinth Canyon, a stunning gorge on the Green River in Utah on a five-day canoe journey! Their expedition kicked off at Deer Hill’s beautiful basecamp in Mancos, Colorado—where they were thrilled to discover their river guide was none other than alum Emma Upton PH ’15, HMS ’19! 💚 Days were spent on the water, and nights under the open stars, in the rugged backcountry of the American Southwest. During the expedition, students also visited Mesa Verde National Park, where they gained insight into Indigenous life, history, and culture. Throughout the adventure, the High Mowing expeditioners challenged themselves physically as well as emotionally and spiritually, learning that ultimately, in the words of William Ernest Henley's "Invictus," they are the masters of their fates, the captains of their souls. #HMSjourney (fb)
