DANCING IN THE STREETS INC
Dancing in the Streets strives to illuminate the urban experience by presenting free public performances in unexpected places. Bronx-based Dancing in the Streets' primary program is It’s Showtime NYC! that provides performance and professional development opportunities to NYC's under represented street and subway dancers as a legal alternative to dancing in subway cars. Dancers are paid for all rehearsals, training, and work as performers, teaching artists and arts administrators. Members gain access to NYC's cultural economy and have performed at Lincoln Center, The Apollo, HarlemStage, Barclay's and received major commissions from Works & Process at the Guggenheim, Abrons Arts Center & The Shed. It's Showtime NYC was the first resident street dance company of the Metropolitan Museum. Dancers embrace authentic street/club dance forms pioneered in NYC including flexN, litefeet, hip hop, vogue and house.
