What began in 1996 as a volunteer network caring for a few unwanted and abused turtles and tortoises has grown into a busy rescue and rehabilitation facility excepting about 300 animals every year. We formalized our services and incorporated in June 2001. MTR's primary purpose is to insure the health and welfare of all species of turtles and tortoises. Our ongoing programs include direct animal care, public education and awareness, and animal advocacy.
