Pittsburgh 3 Rivers Volleyball Club Inc.

Pittsburgh 3 Rivers Volleyball Club Inc., also known as P3R Volleyball, is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving youth girls volleyball players in the Pittsburgh area. It aims to provide a premier volleyball experience through high-quality training and participation in regional and national tournaments.

Mission and Goals

The club's mission is to support athletes in achieving excellence in volleyball by offering comprehensive training and opportunities to compete at both the regional and national levels. This includes fielding teams across various age groups, from 12 to 18 and under, and ensuring that the training and competition schedules are optimized to increase visibility for college recruitment.

History and Development

P3R Volleyball Club was initially formed in 2004, succeeding a previous branch known as Renaissance Central. Since taking over in 2007, the club has been rebuilt under the leadership of Neal Brown and its directors to focus on developing a strong presence in national volleyball competitions. The club aims to foster not only high school-level players but also prospective collegiate volleyball athletes, utilizing experienced coaches with backgrounds in championship and collegiate settings.

Activities and Achievements

The club offers a structured volleyball program featuring teams that train from December through June each year, with participation in approximately 9 tournaments during this period. These include regional tournaments across the tri-state area to minimize travel costs while maximizing competitive opportunities.

P3R Volleyball has achieved several notable successes, including multiple national tournament bids and numerous regional championships. Some of its recent accomplishments include:

  • USAV National Championship Qualifiers: Multiple age groups have qualified for USA Volleyball national championships.
  • Regional Championships: Successful participation in regional events such as the KRVA Region Championships.
  • Tournament Titles: Wins in events like the Shamrock Festival and East Coast Championships.
Training and Community Focus

P3R emphasizes a balance between offering high-level training and keeping costs affordable for family budgets. The club is committed to creating a positive environment for its athletes while preparing them for both high school and collegiate volleyball careers. Additionally, P3R supports college recruitment efforts by facilitating visibility for its players among college coaches through strategic tournament scheduling.

Alumni Success

Several P3R alumni have gone on to play volleyball at the collegiate level, demonstrating the club's success in developing players for higher levels of competition. This includes placements at institutions such as West Virginia Wesleyan College, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and Westminster College.

Affiliations

P3R Volleyball is a member of USA Volleyball, operating within the Keystone Region. This affiliation ensures the club adheres to recognized standards and guidelines for youth volleyball development.
