We believe that childhood is a fundamental human right, and that every day for a child in foster care At a fundamental level, our mission at Center For Family Connections (CFFC) is to help children feel safe, seen, and valued, and to adjust to the challenges of being, or having been, moved from one family to another. Many of the children we serve have spent years in countless foster homes, orphanages, residential centers, or hospitals. The agency?s experienced clinicians understand the interactions and needs of complex blended families∗, and provide the skills, tools, and talent required to build stronger and healthier family units. CFFC address es developmental, structural, and systemic issues of complex, blended families*---families affected by adoption, fostering, kinship care, remarriage, or alternative reproductive technologies. *So, what do we mean when we use the term "complex blended families?"

Earlier this week, Kinnect’s Executive Director, Shannon Deinhart, Chief Strategy Officer, Kristi Burre, and Kinnect to Family Regional Director, Rene' King, were honored to present at the “Kin First Culture Convening”, hosted by Casey Family Programs. The team was able to connect with other organizations from across the country who are dedicated to the work of supporting efforts to shift mindsets - recognizing that kin is family and family is kin. They were able to speak to attendees about hiring, training and empowering staff while focusing on continuously developing and building KinFirst strategies and delivering programs that strengthen kinship connections and inclusive support networks for families, young people, and children.
