Home - Northside Center
Northside works with children who have the greatest need but the most limited access to expert support and care. We help NYC children rise up and thrive. Northside's mission today remains the same as when it was founded in 1946 by the preeminent psychologists, Drs. Kenneth and Mamie Phipps Clark,"...to foster the healthy development of children and families by providing comprehensive, individualized high quality mental health, counseling and educational services to children and families."Northside distinguishes itself by its strength based perspective and its traditional and non-traditional approach to the issues faced by children and families. Northside Center for Child Development (NCCD) combines counseling and therapeutic work with educational and recreational services to meet the needs of children and youth.Northside's 110th Street and Central Harlem Clinics, Therapeutic Early Childhood Center (TECC), our Susan Patricof Head Start Center, our Bronx Children and Family Services Early Head Start Center and Fort Green-Brooklyn Children and Family Services Early Head Start/Head Start Center are now providing over 3,000 children and families with ongoing psychiatric, psychological, psychopharmacological and educational services, evaluation and referral assistance. We are not only increasing the number of children and families served but also the variety of services we offer. Northside's Central Harlem Services has a historically psycho-spiritual focus and provides therapy, crisis intervention.
