Four Hendrick Hudson High School Class of 2024 graduates who were members of the school’s ENL program returned after their first year of college to talk to current ENL students. This ENL College Panel, sponsored by the HHHS ENL and Guidance Departments, was held during lunch periods in the ENL classroom. The graduates fielded questions about how students can best organize their time at college. They discussed everything from dorm life to scholarships, how to make new friendships and how to choose a major, to sports, clubs and any challenges they may have faced. “They were forthcoming about what they learned from their mistakes in both high school and college and spoke passionately about their career plans,” ENL teacher Deborah Levy said. “It was wonderful to witness recent graduates inspiring their younger peers to work to their full potential to fulfill their educational and career goals.” Levy said the ENL College Panel was a great success. “The ENL and Guidance Departments look forward to making this an annual event,” she said. The Hendrick Hudson Central School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Kimberly J. Rohring as its new Assistant Superintendent for Business. Ms. Rohring was appointed at the Board of Education meeting on May 20, and will begin serving a four-year probationary term on July 14, 2025. “I am thrilled to welcome Kimberly Rohring to the Hendrick Hudson Central School District as our next Assistant Superintendent for Business,” Superintendent of Schools Michael A. Tromblee said. “Ms. Rohring brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role, having successfully led complex financial and capital initiatives across several New York school districts. Beyond her impressive credentials, what stands out most is her ability to build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders and her commitment to servant leadership. Those qualities align deeply with our district’s values. I am confident that Ms. Rohring’s collaborative and strategic vision will greatly benefit our students, staff, and community.” Ms. Rohring comes to Hendrick Hudson as an accomplished administrator with broad experience as a business official serving school districts throughout New York state. She has served as a business office leader for the last eight years, including the last three in Newburgh. “I am excited to join the collaborative leadership team at Hendrick Hudson,” Ms. Rohring said. “My goal is to support the needs of our students while being fiscally responsible to the community. I look forward to meeting with district stakeholders and planning how we can work together to move Hendrick Hudson forward under the leadership of Mr. Tromblee.” Ms. Rohring has served the last three years as the Assistant Superintendent of Finance for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. She previously served three years as Deputy Superintendent for Business and Finance for the City School District of Albany, one year as the Assistant Superintendent for Business in the Cornwall Central School District, and one year as the lead business official in the Bloomfield Central School District. The Rochester, N.Y. native began her career serving a number of roles at school districts in Western New York. Prior to her role in Bloomfield, she was the assistant school business manager for finance and a budget analyst for the Greece Central School District and a business office assistant in the Pittsford Central School District. Ms. Rohring’s first role came as a project director and special/executive assistant to the Board of Education in the Rochester City School District. In recent years, Ms. Rohring led capital project work for the City of Albany School District, including a $179.9-million full renovation and addition at Albany High School and a separate $45-million capital project across the district. In Newburgh, Ms. Rohring guided more than $250 million in capital projects, highlighted by the construction of a new Center for Technical Education, additions at several other Newburgh schools, and renovations at two high school campuses. She developed and co-led community budget advisory committees in Albany and Greece during her tenures in those districts. The committee in Greece was composed of parents, community members and Board of Education members and was designed to analyze the return on investment of programs and provide budgetary recommendations for those programs. Ms. Rohring will replace Jill Figarella, who has served the district since July 1, 2024 as Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business. “I want to express my deep appreciation to Jill Figarella for her steady leadership and dedicated service,” Mr. Tromblee said. “It is my intention to coordinate a thoughtful and purposeful transition between Ms. Rohring and Ms. Figarella to ensure continuity and success moving forward.” (fb)
