We’re pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Robert Masur Fellowship in Civil Liberties, which is supports first-year law students who are working on issues related to civil rights and/or civil liberties over the summer: https://typemediacenter.org/prizes/robert-masur/ Shay Walker, a rising 2L at the University of the District of Columbia, will be working with the National LGBTQ Task Force. Walker will work to create legal resources that will aid in ensuring the safety of trans individuals amidst legislative attacks nationwide. Isra Rahman, a student at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, will be spending the summer building her legal skills by supporting tenant organizers at Southside Together aiming to create housing protections in the midst of the gentrification. And, we are giving an honorable mention to Zayne Mauga, a student at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, William S. Richardson School of Law, who will work under Captain Priya Phillips-Rashid defending transgender military service members facing adverse separation in military proceedings, with an emphasis on processing Title VII claims.
