Ngorongoro is world-famous for its rich wildlife. But the health of the crater’s ecosystem depends on what happens outside its borders too. As elephants and other species move beyond park boundaries, the surrounding communities are the new frontlines of biodiversity. That’s why we’ve expanded our human-elephant conflict program at the invitation of four new villages near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. With support from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority and Karatu District—in addition to Global Conservation, Conservation Nation, and Save the Elephants—we’re recruiting and training new coexistence officers from each partner community.
