IRI Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 2025 In 1987 President Ronald Reagan designated March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month to raise public awareness about the needs and potential of individuals with developmental disabilities. This national observance encourages communities to provide the support opportunities and encouragement necessary for individuals with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling and productive lives. Each March the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities NACDD the Association of University Centers on Disabilities AUCD and the National Disability Rights Network NDRN collaborate to highlight the importance of inclusion and unity among people with and without disabilities. The 2025 theme Were Here All Year reinforces the message that accessibility community support and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities should be recognized and championed daily not just in March.
