This month, we're shining our volunteer spotlight on Marcia! ✨ Marcia has been a Volunteer Reader at Rowe Elementary School for two years where she reads with 2nd grade students to promote literacy. "For an hour a week, I get to experience a very particular kind of joy sharing my love of reading with 2nd grade students. I hope I help children learn to love to read so much that they become lifelong readers," Marcia shares. "Teachers give their all every day to make sure each individual child is learning to learn. To have a small role in supporting public education in Portland is a great pleasure. Believe me - spending an hour with 2nd graders is not only a worthwhile use of your time; it's a delight as pure as a small cone from Red's Dairy Freeze!"
