Safe Space
Serving over 11,000 children, youth, and families each year, Safe Space’s mission has remained the same for almost a century: to protect kids, keep them safe, and help them grow. Established in 1919 as a child protective agency known as the Queensboro Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the agency has gradually broadened the scope of our services over the years. Today we provide a broad spectrum of inter-related direct support services to severely underserved neighborhoods throughout Southeast Queens: Jamaica, Far Rockaway and Richmond Hill (including the surrounding areas of Ozone Park and Howard Beach). By intervening early and providing a range of preventive and recovery services, Safe Space helps families to become stronger and healthier, gain critical life skills and helps children to thrive and grow into successful adults.
