On May 28th, Kenya Works proudly celebrated International Menstrual Hygiene Day across three locations in Kenya: Mukuru Kwa Ruben, Nairobi – In partnership with U-Tena Youth Organization, we engaged 150 girls from five schools, celebrating their graduation from the Girl Empowerment Program. One girl powerfully declared: “We will not wait for change, but we will be the change that we want ourselves.” Nkaimurunya Comprehensive School, Karen – With the Rotary Club of Karen, we led joint activities with students, parents, and teachers to foster a stigma-free environment for menstrual health education. Oldonyonyokie Secondary School, Magadi – We hosted open community discussions focused on ending period stigma and promoting menstrual health for all. In total, we reached over 600 adolescent girls and 200+ boys, parents, and teachers—spreading awareness, breaking taboos, and promoting dignity. 💜 Menstrual health is not just a girls’ issue—it’s a societal one.
