Spring is in the air, but there are still traces of winter in the area. Just over a week ago, Ausable Freshwater Center staff and our partners at Adirondack Watershed Institute made what was likely the last trip on the ice this season to sample Mirror Lake. Ice on lakes is highly variable and unpredictable throughout time and between locations, and recent warming has likely made Mirror Lake and other waterbodies in the area unsafe for walking on.
