Overview

New Castle Community Media Center, formerly known as New Castle Community Television Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community media facility. It is located in Chappaqua, New York, and serves the Town of New Castle, including the hamlets of Chappaqua and Millwood.

Mission

The mission of the New Castle Community Media Center is to foster community dialogue and individual expression through television, the internet, and other electronic media. This is achieved by providing platforms for public, government, and educational programming.

History

The organization originated in 1997 as New Castle Community Television (NCCTV). Initially based at Horace Greeley High School, it shared facilities with the school's audio/visual department. Over time, it evolved into a community digital media hub, adapting to new technologies to better serve the community.

Funding

New Castle Community Media Center is funded through a portion of the gross revenues from cable companies serving New Castle. This funding is part of the town's allocation for operating Government, Education, and Public access channels.

Operations

NCCMC operates on multiple channels, including Verizon and Cablevision, and offers a robust internet and video-on-demand service. The center provides six channels for public, educational, and government programming, serving as a vital resource for community communication and expression.

A volunteer board of directors oversees the operations of NCCMC, with an Executive Director managing the staff and volunteers.
