This year, 190 new residents will begin their training in Western New York at the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences - University at Buffalo! Twenty-five percent of the Jacobs School’s Class of 2025 — 44 medical students — are staying in the area for residency training. We recently held a reception for these students; check out the photos! In addition to many Jacobs School graduates, trainees from not only around the country but around the world have chosen to pursue residencies at the Jacobs School, underscoring the appeal of the exceptional training programs in the area. Across the nation, a total of 43,237 training positions were available in 2025, up 4.2 percent from 2024, according to the National Resident Matching Program. The Jacobs School is ranked in the top 10 percent of ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education)-sponsoring institutions in the U.S., which reflects the school’s highly regarded training programs and high standards in education, patient care, and mentoring. ➡️ Read on to see why the breadth of clinical settings in the Buffalo area is a draw for incoming residents: http://ms.spr.ly/6183qanff #UBuffalo #Residency #MatchDay2025 #WesternNewYork #WNY #Buffalove #BuffaloNY (fb)

#FlashbackFriday: Our medical students, residents and faculty members were inducted into UB’s Richard Sarkin Medical Emeritus Faculty Chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) during a ceremony in early March. The event that celebrates the values of humanism and professionalism in medicine was dedicated to the beloved Leonard A. Katz, MD — professor emeritus of medicine, founder of the UB chapter of the GHHS — who died in February. Members of the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences - University at Buffalo community fondly shared warm memories of Katz. Twenty-eight medical students were inducted into the GHHS, along with 17 residents and fellows, and a number of faculty members. Further, medical students Lily McGovern and Mary Yeh were awarded the Dr. Howard R. Goldstein ’74 Memorial Humanitarian Scholarship. Plus, two residents — Korinne Barnett, MD, MBA, and Abigail Grapes, MD — were awarded the Donald Cherr, MD, and Charles Schen, MD, Exemplary Patient-Care Award. To close out the program, Sourav Sengupta, MD, MPH, associate professor of psychiatry and pediatrics, provided thoughts about humanism in medicine. ⚜️ Read our full story for all the details about the ceremony: http://ms.spr.ly/6187qtN77 #UBuffalo #GoldHumanismHonorSociety #GHHS #HumanismInMedicine The Arnold P.
